I am a respected and experienced professional, with over two decades of knowledge and history developing brands in the Health and Beauty sectors. I have worked for many key healthcare Companies including Walgreens Boots Alliance and Superdrug, so i’m well positioned to understand and implement the standard of quality and legality that any new product must adhere to. And while the industry has embraced a move towards more natural topicals, it has sometimes been challenging to ascertain which ones actually deliver, much less what they contain.

Having sensitive skin myself I am also aware how important it is to find the right product to protect our body’s natural barriers. We are also living longer, with more diverse pastimes and staying more active, so these consumer facing touch points have also been at the forefront of our product development. As a result I have been delighted with the quality and transparency of the Brand we have created, and very much looking forward to expanding our range and hearing your feedback.

As most founders in this industry, our products were inspired by personal experiences. Reading ingredient lists on skin care products that looked like chemistry exams was a key motivation, as was the confusion about Cannabis based products, what exactly they contained and how legit they were. Once we established the why (because it was challenging to get natural products that we could trust in,) and the how ( by following established UK/European Regulations,) we knew that the most important things for our customers would be efficacy and accountability. This is one of the reasons our site looks the way it does!   

I was blessed to be born in Colombia but privileged to have the best of both UK and Native American cultures, as they are so distinct but wonderful in different ways. As a child I watched my grandmother expertly blend plant based potions that cemented my faith in the power of nature, and I currently control what could be debilitating autoimmune conditions through diet and lifestyle choices (which I can appreciate may not work for everyone!). These things however, have also been significant influences in creating our brand, as one of our core values is the belief that what we put in and on our bodies will dictate our wellbeing.

As Co-Founder and Chairman of the Healthcare Branding Company (Dermactiva’s parent company,)  I’m delighted to be involved in the launch of this exciting and innovative new Brand. After enjoying a long and distinguished career across Pharmaceuticals, Healthcare and FMCG, I recently retired from Walgreens Boots Alliance as Senior Vice President for Commercial Activity for Europe and the US. My previous experience will help me support Dermactiva’s evolution, and it’s been fascinating to see the amount of work that has gone into Dermactiva to ensure it meets all the necessary tests and regulations. I’m thrilled to see how this Brand will grow, disrupt and develop over the next few years.

I began my writing career in nearly 10 years ago, originally specialising in hair, makeup and cosmetics. However, with an instinctive pull towards doing things the natural way, I soon started to discover the ugly truth behind some of the most commonly used, toxic ingredients in the beauty industry. I changed my own routine, switching up all of the products I used for natural alternatives and drastically altering my diet. I saw a dramatic change in my skin and overall wellbeing. At the same time, I travelled around Japan, the Middle East and America and in doing so, rediscovered my Native American roots in the heart of the Smoky Mountains, Cherokee NC. A spiritual journey completely changed my focus – I knew I wanted to help people. So I started writing about the natural health, wellbeing, beauty, spiritual psychology and lifestyle changes that had worked for me for some of the world’s best loved publications, including Breathe magazine, Natural Health, Stylist, Top Sante and lots more. I always found a way to include in-depth, revelatory research into the harmful products and habits we have been wrongly led to believe are OK, to inspire power through knowledge.

In 2017, I gave birth to my little boy. It very quickly transpired that he had severe reflux disease and the medication we tried only seemed to make things worse. My partner was also suffering with his Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. So, I used my research skills to look for an answer. Cannabis and CBD came up time and again, and the more I learned, the more enthralled I became. After years of investigating and seeing the benefits of this incredible plant first hand, cannabis is now my niche. I am the CBD columnist for Top Sante magazine and contribute my expertise to publications such as Elle, Woman & Home, Cannabis Health Magazine, The Independent and of course, Dermactiva! It’s such a delight to be part of a team who are as passionate as I am about spreading wisdom through wellness.
